Spartans Add Quebec Goaltender

The Almaguin Spartans are thrilled to announce the signing of Maxime Aubuchon (2004). The 6’3 goaltender from Beloeil, Quebec was the starting goaltender for College Jean De Brebeuf (QCHL D2) last season.

Spartans General David Forde had this to say about the club’s latest addition in the crease “We are very happy to be adding Maxime to our club. He is a great young goaltender, with incredible potential. He has great size at 6’3, is technically sound and had a strong season last year at the QCHL level where he saw a lot of rubber. Maxime’s strong play all season allowed his team to stay competitive, even against the strongest clubs.

Our goaltending coach Andre Laperriere is looking forward to working with Maxime and the rest of our talented young goaltenders. We feel with Andre’s guidance and our training program that Maxime will develop into a top junior level goaltender this season.”

Spartans Trade for Quebec Power Forward

The Almaguin Spartans are happy to announce that have acquired 2002 Quebec Power Forward Sebastian Del Balso from the West Nipissing Lynx for a 2024 8th Round Draft Pick and a PDF. Last season Del Balso suited up for the Bancroft Rockhounds (GMHL), Vegreville and Barrhead (CAJHL), where he put up 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points, and 58 penalty minutes in 52 games.
Spartans General Manager David Forde had this to say about the addition of Del Balso “Sebastian is a veteran forward with great size at 6’2 and 210 pounds. He plays a 200-foot game, plays physical and can contribute offensively on a nightly basis.
Sebastian proved in Bancroft last year as a 20-year-old that he can play in a top 6 role in the GMHL and I feel with another season under his belt and a great off season where he has attended professional level training camps, that Sebastian can have a big season.
I think Sebastian can put up a point per game this season and be matched up against other teams’ top lines defensively. We also feel he can be a leader on and off the ice for our younger players.
We will have a lot of veteran additions to announce over the coming weeks heading into the season and we are happy with the direction our roster is heading.”

Trade Alert

The Almaguin Spartans are thrilled to announce that they have acquired US Forward Nick Sprague (2003) and Quebec Forward William Gagnon (2003) from the West Nipissing Lynx for a PDF.

Spartans General Manager David Forde had this to say about the club’s latest transaction “We are very happy with this trade. It allows us to add further depth and experience to our roster. Both players have a season under their belt at the junior level. I feel both players will be good additions on and off the ice for our organization.

Sprague is a big forward at 6’1 and 205 pounds that played for Cincinnati in the NA3HL last season. He likes to play a physical role and will make us a tougher team to play against. Nick will help create space for his linemates and play a 200-foot game.

Gagnon is a smaller forward who plays with a lot of energy and compete. We feel he will generate energy with his style of play, while being defensively responsible. Last season Gagnon played for the West Nipissing Lynx. “

Spartans Add Quebec Goaltende

The Almaguin Spartans are thrilled to announce the signing of 2004 born goaltender Benjamin Launiere. The Ste-Catherine, Quebec native has junior playing experience at the USPHL and GMHL level.
Spartans Goaltending Coach Andre Laperriere had this to say about the addition of Launiere “Ben is a great kid and a promising young goaltender. He has good size at 6’1, great reflexes, a good attitude, he battles, and he is very coachable. I know he has been working with some professional level goalie coaches in Montreal this summer and has been facing quality shots from major junior, college, and professional level players. This level of training has really help prepare Ben for the upcoming season.
He has experienced a lot of success at the Quebec AAA level and at the USPHL level. I feel he is ready to make that next jump in his development and be a strong goaltender at the Junior “A” level. I’m looking forward to having Ben in our program and working with him this season.”
Welcome Ben!!!
